More About Me...

My name is Caitlyn Daas and I am a student at Appalachian State University studying Advertising, Electronic Media/Broadcasting, and Sustainable Development. I am from Emerald Isle, North Carolina, a little beach town in the Southern Outer Banks. My college town of Boone has provided me with many different experiences, especially cold weather and generous community!

I am most passionate about social and environmental justice, specifically within our food production systems. I have dedicated my interests to educating about injustices within the food production system and advocate for local and sustainable means of food production, and accessibility to all regardless of economic means. During my privileged time at App State, I have been able to take classes to further educate myself about systems of oppression which perpetuate social injustices, as well as the major crisis our planet is facing through climate change. My future goals involve combining what I have learned in my communications degrees and my minor in sustainable development.

I am one of the social media managers of the Appalachian State Climate Action Collaborative. We are a collaborative group dedicated to our collective responsibility to ensure a livable future through climate action.

Check out the progress of the App State Climate Action Collaborative in my Climate Action portfolio, read my working ideas on food production, or read my combinations of fact and opinion on my blog!
